With over 34 tons of steel and 89,000 feet of fabric crafted into luminous sculptures by 151 artisans, the GloWild festival promises an entrancing walk through art, light, and imagination.

What to Expect

The festival spans from September 6th to December 29th, 2024, adopting a schedule that accommodates early and late evening adventurers alike. With the stunning backdrop of the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium, located at 6800 Zoo Drive, Kansas City, MO, GloWild opens its gates at 6 PM on select days, inviting guests to venture through the lantern paths from 6:30 PM onwards. Within this one-mile spectacle, visitors can expect an array of photo opportunities alongside a variety of concessions and entertainment options, including access to the Sobela Ocean Aquarium on Wednesdays and thematically changing lantern displays that align with the seasonal festivities at the time.

For those planning their visit, GloWild welcomes guests into a realm of wonder starting at 6 PM, with the lantern paths beckoning explorers at 6:30 PM. Anticipate a mesmerizing hour-long journey through both the adventure and fantasy loops, where tales of old are brilliantly brought to life. Dining options are available at Beastro Café and near the Helzberg Penguin Plaza, ensuring that every explorer stays well-fueled throughout their adventure. Adding to the spectacle, Circus Scorpius dazzles with "The Search for Atlantis" performances, creating unforgettable memories under the starlit sky of Kansas City.

In the heart of autumn, GloWild doubles as a hub of seasonal joy with an assortment of family-friendly activities slated through October 31st, including hayrides, swings, pedal tractors, and yard games. A highlight for the little ones includes pumpkin decorating and carousel rides, enriching the festive spirit. As November ushers in the winter theme, visitors can expect the festival to transition seamlessly, offering new wonders and experiences. It’s important to note that while the zoo’s regular animal exhibits are not part of the nighttime display, the exception of Wednesday evenings grants exclusive access to the captivating Sobela Ocean Aquarium for GloWild attendees, offering a splash of marine life magic to the lantern-lit evenings.
